Our Mission
We would like to see Whidbey Island achieve a Bicycle Friendly Community rating and we ask that Island County produce and adopt a Bicycle Master Plan that will be integrated into its long term planning, among other early steps in our evolution.
Our Mission
To start orienting our community towards biking safety national standards and engage with our Planning and Public Works officials to achieve these goals.
We would like to have more high-safety, low stress multi-use paths and wider marked bike lanes creating a network which can be used for transportation, fitness and recreation.
We would like to complete the Bridge to Boat cycle trail running the length of Whidbey Island.
We would like to see more off-road trails open to cycling, and new trails built where appropriate.
We are opposed to raising speed limits as research shows this lead to more crashes and fatalities.
We would like to see enforcement of laws prohibiting speeding, impaired driving, as well as the use of handheld electronic devices while driving.
Ultimately, we would like to achieve a Bicycle Friendly Community rating of Silver by 2027.
